This book was designed with care by a seasoned JLPT test-taking professional in order to help learners of Japanese pass the exam with flying colors. As the JLPT contains no formal or set list of content, the kanji characters in this book were selected through a rigorous process––consideration was given to many public lists, to kanji seen in previous exams, and to the author’s own speculation. In fact, some characters presented in this book are also included in some N4 lists.

Approximately 100 characters are included in this text. Most lists propose that only about 95 characters are required for the N5 level. By studying more than necessary, the student is more prepared each time they take the JLPT and will be even more successful in future exams at higher levels.
