Christine Jenkins figures one broken heart is enough.

Six months ago, she expected a marriage proposal but got a good-bye speech instead. She packed her bags and went to Kansas City to get over Davis. But some things are easier decided than accomplished, especially with a new boyfriend pushing for marriage before she's ready.

Davis Williams has problems his friends and family can't understand because they aren't adopted. But he is. He still remembers being shuffled from one foster home to another. He also remembers his new sister telling him he didn't belong in her family. Then their younger brother was born, and he waited for the inevitable rejection.

That's why when things got serious with Christine he ran before she broke his heart too. But now he's come back ready to make amends with his family and with her. If only Christine will believe God has worked in his life and he's no long afraid. If only she'll give him a chance to prove his love and commitment to her.
