Publisher Description
Young Woman’s Body Discovered in Library Gazebo, Lou Prophet Accused
—1926, Pasadena, California—
When Daisy’s old nemesis, Stacy Kincaid, is found murdered in the Pasadena Public Library’s gazebo, suspicion is cast upon the one-legged Lou Prophet—former bounty hunter, current curmudgeon, and reluctant Pasadena citizen.
Daisy, who has had remarkable success in the kitchen considering her loathing of cookery, begins to have problems. Things burn in seconds, pots run dry, and she fears losing her mind, perhaps due to the early stages of her pregnancy. Odd things happen in the library, too, which puzzle and distress Daisy’s friend, librarian Regina Browning.
But the problems mount when the real murderer steals a car, resulting in another death and the demise of a Hispano-Suiza.
Alice Duncan spent years avoiding what she knew she should be doing—writing—by professionally folk dancing instead. Eventually, her muse won the battle, and she’s been crafting engaging historical cozy mysteries ever since. Now a proud resident of Roswell, New Mexico, Alice enjoys the lack of smog and crowds while spoiling her beloved herd of wild dachshunds. Visit her at www.aliceduncan.net.
Don’t miss a moment of the action with Daisy and her cadre of friends as they solve mysteries in 1920s Pasadena! Each story stands alone but is best enjoyed in order.

Entertaining reading
I have enjoyed reading Daisy Gumm Majesty’s adventures in this series for several years. This latest book in the series surpassed my high expectations for a thrilling adventure with several surprises sprinkled throughout. Daisy is her usual ubiquitous self in the center of all the excitement. I’m always satisfied with the conclusion of each book, but sad that it came to the last page. I can hardly wait to return to Marengo Avenue in the next book and catch up with Daisy, Sam, Harold and Mr. Prophet.
