The word bastard does not even begin to describe Lieutenant Arkham of the Federal Guard of the city of Nictropis. He’s much worse.
Arkham doesn’t want to investigate the elf murder he’s been assigned. Elves are the most powerful beings in Nictropis, aristocratic and dangerous.
But when a charm is used against him to compel him to do so, he really has no choice.
Ogres, trolls, goblins, organized crime juiced with magic, hitmen trying repeatedly to kill him...it’s more than enough to give a guy sleepless nights.
If can he can survive, that is.
