Truly beyond inspirational
My family and I are raising my two nephews with autism. This book gave me such wonderful insights in Owen's amazing story! It's as if this were a glorious road map to one family's life with autism. I wish only great things for Owen in his future. This was a truly inspirational story and I am so glad it was shared with the world.
Whoa.
I haven’t read it but my son is 4yrs old w ASD. He is strikingly similar to Owen (I saw the Daily Show episode, as well). My son has struggled with speech delay and is also learning to read by studying Disney movies and show credits and piecing sounds together on his own. It’s sort of freaky. He now speaks in short sentences, but can act out and speak long stretches of dialogue. We quote movies to communicate together which is sort of a funny gift for my wife and I, who have been doing this for years before he was born - albeit in a more playful way (We’re big movie buffs). I’m looking forward to reading this and watching the movie, but I am so fascinated that we’re not alone in this experience and that others have used it to connect these kid’s worlds with our own.
