The Life in the Cold pieces are written in a style that might be called riting in rhythm to distinguish them from what is usually meant by the name poetry. The subjects are various--war and culture, science and faith, the popular and the personal--and a number of them are narrative. They are meant to be accessible, even entertaining, despite the heft of some of the themes.
