It wasn't an easy path for David to become king over Israel. God had personally selected him for the role at a young age and given him the strength and courage to defeat the Philistine giant named Goliath. Saul was ultimately killed in battle, but the path wouldn't get much easier for David once he became king. Sadly, much of this turmoil would come about as a result of David's own sinful actions when he committed adultery and then murder to cover it up.
