Publisher Description

Unlock the more straightforward side of Life of Pi with this concise and insightful summary and analysis!

This engaging summary presents an analysis of Life of Pi by Yann Martel, a powerful novel about the stories we tell ourselves and others and the nature of belief. It tells the story of Piscine “Pi” Patel, a young Indian man whose family of zookeepers decides to immigrate to Canada due to the political instability in India. However, their ship is capsized by a storm, causing the deaths of everyone on board except Pi, who escapes on a lifeboat with a number of animals. Most of the animals quickly kill and eat each other, except Richard Parker, a Bengal tiger. Pi forms a tentative alliance with Richard Parker, and together they manage to overcome the many perils of the ocean and make their way back to shore – assuming, that is, that Pi’s account of his adventures is truthful. Life of Pi is the best-known novel by the Canadian author Yann Martel, and won the 2002 Man Booker Prize. It was also adapted into an Oscar-winning film by the director Ang Lee in 2010.
