Publisher Description
In the bustling streets of Brooklyn, two lives, so different yet destined to intertwine, find themselves caught in an unforgettable tale of love and risk.
“One of the most poignant and star-crossed love stories since The Fault in Our Stars.”—Entertainment Weekly
“Electrifying . . . surprisingly seductive. LaMarche expertly conjures up what high-stakes infatuation feels like.”—The New York Times Book Review
Fate brought them together. Will life tear them apart?
Devorah is a consummate good girl who has never challenged the ways of her strict Hasidic upbringing. Jaxon is a fun-loving, book-smart nerd who has never been comfortable around girls (unless you count his four younger sisters). They’ve spent their entire lives in Brooklyn, on opposite sides of the same street. Their paths never crossed . . . until one day, they did.
When a hurricane strikes the Northeast, the pair becomes stranded in an elevator together, where fate leaves them no choice but to make an otherwise risky connection. Though their relationship is strictly forbidden, Devorah and Jaxon arrange secret meetings and risk everything to be together. But how far can they go? Just how much are they willing to give up?

Literally a book "Like No Other"
I've been recommending this book to nearly all of my friends. It's bitter-sweet yet insightful. I enjoyed the realism in it, not a typical teen story with a typical happy ending like high school musical or something. It was interesting to learn about a new faith and culture and I think that contributed immensely to its uniqueness. It really tells you to follow your heart, don't be afraid to take risks, and reminds you that your parents will still love you no matter what you do. I'd recommend it to girls around the age of 13-15 because it isn't a lengthy book with the biggest words one might say. Overall, I enjoyed it and once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. I was "ooing" and "awing" the entire time I read it. Jaxon and Devorah are so adorable and this is such a special and new story. Love how we get both sides of the story as Jaxon and Devorah.
This Book is LIKE NO OTHER😍
I recently read Una LaMarche's book "Like No Other" and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was heart wrenching, bittersweet, educational, unique, interesting, and beautifully written. I applaud Ms. LaMarche's ability to successfully craft, develop, and articulate such a wonderful, coming-of-age novel. This book should inspire teens everywhere to follow their hearts; let it guide you, even if it makes you do some crazy things. Down-to-earth and magically romantic at the same time, this book is a perfect blend of romance, religion, and wist. The ending made me realize that love is not always perfect and love won't always end "Happily Ever After." It had me in near-tears. Love is not perfect; it is like a bumpy road. But like all bumpy roads, they do not need paving to get you where you want to go. ❤️
Insightful
I found this book to be interesting, educational and an enjoyable story of young love. The story reminded me of a movie entitled "A Stranger Among Us" in that it involved the Hasidic Jewish Community.
