A girl named Lydia Pierce loses her parents and her baby sister. Her and her brother, Daniel, are sent to live on their uncles farm, which is an unbearable experience no one wants to hear about. Their aunt wants the children gone, so they are sent to an orphanage, the Shakers of Sabbathday lake. There, Lydia learns new ways, and has a fresh start and a new life. This book will keep you up all night, and you will find it an amazing novel and you might want to live like the Shakers!
