Thelma, dies at 19 giving birth to a son, Theron. At six, when the son meets his father for the first time, he learns his mother’s death is his fault and his only question is how she died. Looking away, the bereft father mutters, “I loss your mother’s help ’n’ comfort ’en she died givin’ birth ta ya’.”

A love story set in rural America and spanning much of the 20th century, Lila & Theron captures the spirit of the American rural experience, as it relates to their personal stories of love and sacrifice.
