Liminal Space

Heat, drought, and a mysterious blight on the corn crops threaten the livelihood of many farming families in the great plains. Set in the Oklahoma panhandle in the year 2105, Holly and her father Troy successfully maintain their family homestead using permaculture and regenerative agriculture techniques. Their closest neighbor, Henry, is oblivious to Holly's newfound affection towards him as he is too busy studying mycology and growing medicinal mushrooms.

When several climatic tipping points are reached simultaneously, Holly, Troy, and Henry must band together to survive a weather phenomenon of global proportions. Holly finds solace and kinship in the journals of her ancestors, discovering that an astrological transit connects what she is living through to the experiences of her family in the pandemic years of the early 2020's and the dustbowl era of the 1930's. Meanwhile, Henry begins experimenting with the blight, wondering if it could be a new type of fungus and what significance this could have for humanity. 

A tale of transformation and evolution, Liminal Space illuminates what could happen when the Earth reclaims itself, putting humans in their place as just one of many endangered species. This ultimately shocking and science-based exploration of the Anthropocene extinction imagines what else might be evolving and how it could lead to a more diverse and beautiful world.
