Lingering Spirits

Hope

To him, I'm just an annoying voice in his head.
I never once asked for this ability.
I connect telepathically with people
who don't realize they need my help.
Once done, I sever the connection.
This man though, he's different.
Connecting with Russ is refreshing,
but I don't know why after two months we can't figure out the reason for the connection.
All I know is I'm getting way too attached.
But until the monster who used my abilities for his personal gain is found,
everyone I've ever cared about has to believe I'm no longer alive.

My mind has been invaded by a mysterious voice.
She can read my thoughts, and see the world through my eyes.
She's frustrating and doesn't hesitate to call me out on thoughts I would never share with anyone else.
She also saved me, more than once.
As we start to talk more and I discover she's always on the run,
she says I'll be the one to save her.
How can I save someone I've never met?
As a friendship develops and feelings grow,
I know that I'll do whatever I can for her,
Especially when I learn the reason we were brought together.
