Publisher Description
The story is set in the war zone. Jordan, the central character, is on an assignment to blow a bridge, working with the guerrilla fighters.
During the course of events, he comes across Maria, a guerrilla fighter, whose parents had been killed by the Fascist soldiers and she had been raped by a group of soldiers.
On one hand there is the brutality of war and killings, but on the other hand there is romantic love between Robert Jordan and Maria. Whenever they make love they feel the earth move.
The novel is not only highly descriptive of human emotions, but also thought provoking, asking a question whether morality is subjective.
