Customer Reviews
Why did I buy? Not what I expected.
I was not happy with this purchase at all. First I had to load IBooks just to purchase an read book to have another book shelf on my device like News Stand. Then once I purchased this book I was not happy with its content.
I have purchased other Little Critter books published by Oceanhouse Media and they did a great job with the content and layout of the book. Oceanhouse made each page interactive, and allowed my four year old son to tap the words to hear them again or tap areas of the page to see and hear what an item is. This is great when we read the books together or when he just wants to do it on his own. Each page is optimized for the screen and he does not have to pinch and zoom to see the page.
This book has audio, but you can not tap on a word to hear it again. You can not tap on pictures and see and hear what it is. The item is layed out like a book with two pages per screen and that is not a major problem, but the fact that you are not given a choice for lay out is. The more you draw a child in the more involed an fun he will have with something.
The publisher of this book and publishers of other books like this need to spend some more time polishing up their books for kids. I see that Oceanhouse Media's books are labeled as apps and not in the book section, but that should not be an excuse to not put a little love and care into your work. Don't just scan a book, add an audio track, give one mode of reading and not try to put out the best product possible especially for children.
I purchased one other book and it had the same issues. I will not be purchasing any other books until the publishers put a vastly improved version of what is currently available. I will stick with the apps available from Oceanhouse media.
I do not work for Oceanhouse Media I am just a concered parent who wants the best for his young children and I like when someone puts in an effort to make something the best that it can be. Hopefully the other publishers will follow suit and I would love to then purchase more books from them.
