Stylish illustrations and clever text are just the beginning in this enhanced digital version of Little Miss Austen: Pride & Prejudice. Animated illustrations on every spread and narration by Utah Shakespeare Festival’s David Ivers transform this simple counting primer into an interactive experience. Tap the illustrations for sound effects and dialogue such as ringing church bells, whinnying horses, and Darcy’s marriage proposals. Bonus material includes helping Lizzy choose a dress for the ball and narration of the first chapter of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
Launching the BabyLit series, this counting book delivers a (very) simplified version of Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Adams opens with "1 english village" and "2 rich gentlemen," the pale, dapperly dressed Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy. Later follows "4 marriage proposals" and "5 sisters," and the book closes with 10, as in "10,000 pounds a year." While many entries feel like filler ("6 horses, 7 soldiers in uniform"), Oliver's Edward Gorey meets Etsy sensibility should make this a hit with English lit students. Available simultaneously: Romeo & Juliet. Up to age 3.

I purchased this to go along with the board book (of the same name) for my 15 mo. old daughter. She loves them almost as much as I do!
The Kids Loved It
I put this on my iPad to give my nephews and nieces something to look at other than angry birds. My three-year-old niece loved the page where she gets to dress Lizzy and my five-year-old nephew loved the sound effects. He went through the entire book touching everything to see what made a noise. He also had fun counting along with the narrator.
My iPad has a split personality - it lives one life during the day and another off the clock. This charming book is exactly what the little ones love. It's the best of everything - great literature that's age appropriate with super hip interactive effects sure to keep kids interested and attentive.
