Publisher Description
Introduction: The Metapragmatics of Globalization in Singapore Globalization is a geo-politico reality however we define it. While there is a tendency to generate a "grand narrative" and discourse about globalization and its ramifications, this paper takes a deliberate stance to steer away from providing another account of what globalization is given the widely available academic and popular literature. Instead, the aim of this paper is to ground "globalization" in the realities of specific contexts, for as Beck (2002) has reminded us that we cannot even think about globalization or discuss it effectively without reference to specific locations and places.
