Long Live Long Island

The year is 1981 and America has turned hard right into a decade of excess and greed. On the North Shore of Long Island, Republican Boss Frank Montesano has secret plans to build a multi-billion dollar bridge across the Sound, and he is licking his chops at the chance for profits and graft. College history professor Brian Werth is appalled at the potential for environmental devastation... the countless tons of steel and concrete that will destroy the forests and shoreline of Sagamore. He abandons his classroom when he realizes he has a civic responsibility to run for mayor, stop the bridge and break the GOP machine. Brian, his girlfriend Iva, and their eccentric band of friends hit the campaign trail and run headlong into powerful conservative forces who will stop at nothing to stay in power. He finds himself fighting for the future of Long Island - and his own life - as events challenge his beliefs about duty, friendship, and how far he will go to win. Peter Bales has appeared as a stand-up comedian at countless comedy clubs, corporate functions, and colleges across the country and has appeared on a variety of networks including Comedy Central, Lifetime, MTV, VH-1, FOX, A&E, and SiriusXM. Dr. Bales (Ph.D. in history) is also an associate professor at Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York. He lives in East Northport on Long Island.
