I wanted to like this book so much more than I did. It started out promising enough, with a courtroom shoot-out. Unfortunately, then it took a huge dive, with poorlywritten and unbelievable sex scenes galore, boring if occasionally historically interesting moments in between, and a final resolution that seems to spring out of nowhere. To be clear, I have no problem whatsoever with sex in books—even explicit, steamy sex!—when it's well-done and well-earned. None of the several encounters depicted in this book are anywhere close to that criteria, in my opinion. I'm so disappointed! The sample I downloaded included the beginning shoot-out, and I was so looking forward to a whole new (to me) series of Western awesomeness. This was more like Western porn, and _bad Western porn, at that. Ah, well. At least it was short!
