Publisher Description
“Grief has a way of cementing our feet to the ground wherever we’re standing when it hits us. It takes hard work to get unstuck from that place, but we have to be willing to dig in.”
In this coming of age tale, Mbinguni weaves a narrative about Hannah “Mouse” Maynard and her transformation from a shy, quiet, girl into a strong and assertive woman.
At 7-years-old, Mouse encounters a tragedy that forces her to face the evils of the world and leave behind everything she’s ever known. With their home destroyed, Mouse and her father travel from Maplewood, Georgia to Virginia and Michigan confronting their past as they move into their future.
Mouse encounters women along the way who help her find the strength to survive and thrive against all she's seen. Through these bonds and their fierce protection, Mouse not only finds her voice but a renewed sense of hope.

Diamond in the rough!
Where do I begin?!? This book has taken me on a journey I didn’t know I needed. Well, after I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. Taking the journey with Mouse was like watching it happen in my mind. The way the author weaves the story takes you on a mind-bending, twist and turns, ups and downs, and turbulent ride as Mouse finds her voice. Each character that was introduced, each town that she was forced to live in all added so much to her already troubled story. Reading this story through her eyes made me feel like I could reach out and touch her at any moment and tell her everything was going to be okay. In the end, it gave me a sense of peace that I was not sure after all that she had been through would ever come for her. I was left wanting more! This book is amazingly written! 5 stars are not nearly enough! I cannot wait for the next book, whatever it may be. I am here for it all!
