Faith Davis, a young Southern girl and courageous survivor of the Civil War's devastation to her family, vows to keep her pledge of marriage to Jonathan Blackwell, a compassionate officer of the Union Army. Though Faith has never met him, he is the author of the stack of letters neatly stowed in he filigreed letter box rarely allowed out of her sight.
