Love in the Afternoon

We are introduced to Margot, a doctor from Belgium, who visits South Africa to attend her grandfather’s funeral. Here she once again meets up with Jacques, her childhood boyfriend. He has loved Margot since he was 9 and too excited by seeing her once again after so many years, he promptly proposes. He is a now widower, a single parent with mixed race children in a small farming town, and suffers the consequences of small town bigotry. On the romantic front, Jacques realising that although they have been friends and lovers, they have never had a date, he eventually invites Margot on their very first date, which goes well. However, Margot has her own problems as she slowly uncovers her problematic family history. These secrets had been withheld from her her entire life and she now finally understands why she was shipped off to boarding school in Europe. In shock she decides to sell the farm and leave Africa. Jacques is utterly devastated and decides to end their engagement. Margot realising her error now wants to win him back and fix everything, but after such a betrayal, is this even possible? How can she get back his confidence and trust? Radical action is needed for radical results!
