Love Letters: The Abyss of Loneliness seeks to define the nature of romantic love and the meaning of human life. The author argues that the quest of romantic love is one for meaningful life, which consists of recognizing the basic capacities that make us human. Love is based upon the commitment to the central human values that have propelled and sustained human civilization during the past five millennia: truth, justice, freedom, friendship, divinity, and beauty. Loving is the most basic urge in human nature, aiming towards the realization of human potentialities and, ultimately, human fulfillment. The lessons about love and the meaning of human life presented in this book come from two lovers devoted to romantic love and love of life.
