Love Script

I like this story because it shows you that as Christians we are not perfect. We still struggle with trusting God. Lamar and Neveah unintentionally created a scandal when a photograph was taken of them in a supposed compromised position. The rationale to enter a fake relationship shows us that sometimes we twist the scriptures to just our own actions. As you read the story, you see how the Holy Spirit convicts their conscience on God’s will for their life.

Wow! The Love Script has everything I love about a Toni Shiloh book – swoony romance, witty banter, and a strong faith thread. Shiloh has written a fun couple thrust into a fake relationship. Neveah is sweet and sassy and very real. Lamont Booker, People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive and Hollywood actor with a moral code, is the perfect hero. The journey from fake to real is funny, charming, and realistic. What would happen if a celebrity and a not-so- famous hairstylist fell in love for real? The Love Script gives the reader an entertaining look at one of the possibilities.

Shiloh’s inclusion of text messages between Neveah and Lamont and Lamont and his guy friends are a fun addition to the book. I enjoyed the way the author gave insight into the character’s thoughts through these texts as well as through narration. It is a great way to introduce other characters who will appear in subsequent books in the Love in the Spotlight series.

Shiloh is a master at including the characters’ faith stories as an integral part of her books. I love the way she incorporates the faith thread into her books in such a seamless way. It is just a part of who the characters are. Shiloh never comes across as preachy, but is unapologetically Christian.

I think that Toni Shiloh is wonderful voice in the contemporary Christian fiction market. I recommend this book and look forward to the other books in this series.

When hair stylist Nevaeh Richards trips on actor Lamont Booker’s stairs outside his home and he catches her, a photographer snaps their picture and changes their lives forever. Soon they are dating and trying to fix Lamont’s reputation. As they get to know each other better, they also begin to learn more about God and His Word. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles set in front of them? I loved this book and was so encouraged by the biblical truths contained in it. I laughed out loud many times at the characters’ antics, marked many good and insightful quotes, and even examined my own relationship with God as I read. Nevaeh’s personality was delightful, Lamont’s text threads with his friends were hilarious, and I personally related to Nevaeh’s perception of herself as she struggled with the unrealistic expectations placed upon women and their looks. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait for the next story in the series! I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher.
