"I've always been a fan of Skye Warren ever since I read Wanderlust. Her writing is flawless and tales captivating. Love The Way You Lie is no exception. 5 Stars." ~ Pepper Winters, New York Times bestselling author of Tears of Tess

I'll do anything to stay hidden, even if that means working at the scariest club in town. Then he shows up, mysterious and yet strangely familiar. And so damn sexy.

When he looks at me, I forget why I can't have him. He's beautiful and scarred. His body fits mine, filling the places where I'm hollow, rough where I am soft.

He's the only man who wants to help, but he has secrets of his own.

He has questions I can't answer.

I’m running from my past, but his might catch me first.

Gritty, Nasty World

Well, I'm on the fence about this book. I started to give it only 3 stars but then decided that any book that I start reading at 3am when I can't sleep then can't put down and wind up reading it in one day is worthy of at least 4 stars, no matter what problems I see with it. I will say it definitely holds your attention and makes you want to know what happens next. I wanted to cheat so bad because the suspense of Kip's mysterious life was killing me. There was a very good storyline in this book. As far as it being dark romance, it wasn't like I thought it would be. It didn't have a lot of sex in it. And not the really raw kind I expected. Of course, the lifestyle of Honor and all the other characters was really dark. What she had to do to survive was really dark. Her whole life was dark. Even when she had been protected growing up. She grew up in a mafia home. So when she was so opposed at having a gun or even reluctant to take a taser given to her, I wanted to smack her. This was part of the story I didn't like. Maybe she had just seen too much violence to want them. I thought it should scare her into wanting a gun more. Especially how she was trying to protect her sister. But this was a minor thing. At times I felt like there were conversations between people that the reader didn't get to read. Like it was in their head but never told. Idk how to put it. It wasn't bad enough that I wouldn't buy the book though. It didn't ruin the story. I understood what was going on. I guess my biggest thing is that I wish we would've had a better introduction to Ivan and Blue. From the get go we just see how repulsive Blue is to Honor but there are hints that she always sees something "flash" in his eyes. The male characters weren't developed like I would've liked. I know they get their own books but this read like I should've known a backstory of them almost. Except crazy Byron. He was just horrible. The girls were all written so well. I hope I don't sound too negative in this review. I would recommend this to anyone because I do feel like it's a great set up of a good world. I will definitely try out the next book.

This was about Honor and Kip not Clara and Gio.

Tough Love: A Dark Mafia Romance, the prequel novella to the Stripped series. Honor and Clara are sisters bred to wed men in the mafia. Except Gio wants them safe and away from Bryon's influence.

After reading the prequel I felt I was missing vital information about Honor's character.
Love The Way You Lie was about Honor/Honey who was a stripper hiding from Bryon and her father. Love the Way You Lie is the first book in the stripped series. After having read the prequel Tough Love I thought I would be better prepared for this story. So far I'm confused. The direction of Honor's character was not what I expected. I knew the sisters ran away from home, but I had no idea they would become this desperate.
I'm lost and confused at the direction this story was executed. I was not planning on Honor's character dominating the story. I had a hard time connecting with Honey/Honor simply because she left one disastrous situation and chose another crummy situation for herself.

The story was extremely sexual. Between stripping, lap dances, and private rooms
for other sexual favors Honey did not make any grand gestures to improve her lifestyle. The story became stagnant. Even with the introduction of Kip's character I still felt disconnected. It was a chore to read. There were too many plot holes with too many storylines.

Honor's character would be easier to accept if Skye explained why the only thing she can give is her body. Honor claimed to be a survivor yet in order to survive one must be able to fight and Honor was a meek character too easy to give up her body to men. Her body was her power over the powerful controlling men and she conceded.
In my opinion Skye used to many metaphors which complicated the sentence structure. Rather than express Honor's feelings or emotions a metaphor was used instead. Once again my detachment grew. I'm no more closer to understanding her character or her purpose.
I wouldn't say this was a dark mafia story just because the girls father was the Mafia don for the Moretti family. This was a story about Honor running away from her family obligations to wed Byron to take over the family business.

4-1/2 Entrancing Stars!

This first book in Skye Warren's STRIPPED series is a darkly sensual, deeply hypnotic and intensely emotional erotic romance that keeps you enthralled from start to finish. This book is a continuation of the prequel, TOUGH LOVE, which ended with the two privileged, physically oppressed sisters, Honor and Clara, fleeing into the night to avoid a horrible fate.

As this story opens at The Grand nightclub, I was immediately drawn in by the mysterious connection between "Honey" a beautiful, bereft stripper trying to outrun a violent past, and her newly enamored customer Kip, the gruff, tough, enigmatic stranger who wants her for much more than a sultry lap dance. I felt a soul-deep compassion for the heroine as she fought tooth and nail, debasing herself in the process, to keep her precious younger sister from being ensnared back into the evil clutches of their powerful mafia family. But when forbidden passion ignites and she ends up trusting the wrong man--with her life and her tender, achingly lonely heart--her carefully constructed glass fortress could come shattering down all around her. And it's anyone's guess who will emerge unscathed!

LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE is a suspenseful and seductive novel that explores the many facets of love, lies and twisted desire. A must read that pulls at the heart strings and evokes a powerful visceral response in the reader.
