Publisher Description
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but Private Investigator Liz Talbot is struggling to feel festive. She hasn’t seen her best friend, Colleen, in weeks and fears she may never see her again in this life. Meanwhile Nate, Liz’s husband and partner, is spending money like he prints it in the attic on a mysterious family Christmas celebration. Liz’s nerves are shot, and she hasn’t even decked a single hall. But there’s simply no time to fret.
On a morning beach run, Liz spots a wooden rowboat run aground with Santa inside. Did Old Saint Nick have too much eggnog at the boat parade? No indeedy—Santa’s been shot. And he’s none other than C.C. Bounetheau, patriarch of one of Charleston’s wealthiest families.
Liz and Nate already unwrapped quite a few family secrets while searching for the Bounetheau’s missing granddaughter last year—enough to make them swear to steer forever clear of the entire clan. But as Mr. Bounetheau’s body is found in Stella Maris, and Liz and Nate are the police chief’s on-call detectives, they’re on the case.
With no shortage of suspects, Liz and Nate dash to find a killer who may be working his or her way down a naughty list.
Spend Christmas in the Lowcountry with the Talbot family and their friends in Susan M. Boyer’s latest Southern charmer, Lowcountry Boughs of Holly. Tis the season for merry mayhem!

Enjoyable
Another engaging story starring Liz Talbot and family. I love the Low Country series. Not only is the setting beautifully described but the food, the small town vibe, and the relationships are all written about in such a way that the reader definitely feels part of the action. I’ve read most of the books in this series and just recently discovered I’ve missed a couple. I will be catching up on those ASAP. Recommended. Thanks to the author, I received a free copy of this book. Views expressed here are my own.
Lowcountry Boughs of Holly
Thanks to the Author and publisher I was able read an ARC of this Christmas mystery! What a fun, holiday read with a murder thrown in. Susan Boyer has a hit with this one as I could not put it down. Each page I read made me want to see if I could solve the mystery before the famous PI team! One of the 3 Santa’s in Stella Maris is dead and floating in a boat! The victim of a prominent family makes it an urgent case for Liz’s brother Blake. He needs help to solve this in record time. Liz and Nate to come to the rescue and try to make it happen. Nate is planning a surprise trip for the family so they need to “wrap “ it up with a bow on top asap! Be sure to add this Christmas adventure to your list and check it twice you won’t be sorry!
IT’S THE (AL)MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!
This is Susan M. Boyer at her BEST! She provides readers with everything they’ve come to look forward to in her books. She has an engaging plot, heartwarming scenes involving Liz’s family, humorous anecdotes involving her Daddy and one of his “clever ideas,” learning about Liz’s Mother’s over-the-top Christmas decorations and the descriptions of her fabulous Christmas Meals and Liz’s husband and business partner Nate Andrews is planning a two week Mystery Christmas Vacation for everyone. While almost everyone is busy preparing for the “Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” there is at least one person who did not stop with the normal Switches and Ashes in their Gift Bag. They plan to ruin Christmas and have packaged pure Malice and have an intricate plan to carry out their mayhem. Leave it to Liz to find a washed up rowboat containing the body of a dead Santa. This Santa is not just a random Santa, rather one who happens to be C.C. Bounetheau, patriarch of one of Charleston’s wealthiest families!! The Bounetheau Family is filled with lies, deceit, cheating, drugs, felonies, extortion, blackmail and so much more! Obviously that makes trying to solve whodunnit a bit more challenging. Liz and Nate have many ideas of ways to get more information on each potential perpetrator. Boyer provides readers with an intriguing mystery and deftly places all the pieces of the puzzle together. As Liz and Nate are finishing their last minute packing to go on their Mystery Christmas Vacation, they are surprised by yet another deterrent to their future! After taking care of business and both receiving a huge Christmas surprise, Nate surprises Liz with an unforgettable 1st Anniversary Gift! The ending is SPECTACULAR! This book is truly a Christmas Gift from Boyer to her loyal readers!
