Book 1 Luke and Lizzie
Second Chances. So many people go back to there first love. They lived life but understand something missing.
Great start to the series
This is going to be a very interesting series. Each story is about one of seven brothers and each book is written by a different author. Barbara Freethy was the perfect choice to kick off the series.
Luke's father, a billionaire, dies without sharing his illness with his seven sons. Days after his death, each brother is presented with a gift. Luke receives the title to the family's mountain lodge. Not wanting to settle down as he is a dare devil film maker, he decides to visit the property thinking that he may be able to sell it.
Ten years prior, he and Lizzie experienced a sad and emotional break up. No other woman has compared to her since.
Imagine Luke's surprise when he visits the lodge and finds Lizzie as the manager.
This is the story of the next chapter in Luke and Lizzie's lives. Romance at its best. Barbara's words make you feel the heartache, the pain and the joy of finding love again.
I was provided an ARC so I could read the book and prepare an honest review. I can't wait to read the other six stories.
Not Very Interesting
I tried to like Luke but it was difficult. He dropped out of college after his junior year to pursue extreme sports all over the world. He wanted his college girlfriend, Lizzie, to go with him and she just couldn't do it. Lizzie went on to get her degree and pursued her dream of becoming a renowned concert pianist. Both Luke and Lizzie became successful in their chosen fields but tragic circumstances drew them together 10 years after their initial split. Luke was still angry that Lizzie had not gone with him to follow his dream. Throughout the story he was just self centered with emotional baggage. Luke and Lizzie eventually decide they can't live without each and by the time they reached that decision, I just didn't care. I have purchased all of the books in this series and I hope the other six stories are more interesting.
