Cyrus Adams is a mage, which is a human being that can perform magic. He resides in the city of Alligaine in the Quansett region. After making a powerful enemy, unforeseen events send Cyrus on an unexpected adventure with an unlikely companion. The two men traverse the Quansett region in search of information and safety. Along the way, they face grave danger from human and nonhuman creatures. During his travels, Cyrus acquires knowledge and companionship, while strengthening his position in relation to his singular goal. Will Cyrus achieve his aim? Or will his cunning nemesis triumph over him? Mages and Kings is an epic fantasy novel with themes of power, friendship, and alienation that are relevant in the real world today despite the book's medieval setting. This is Andrew Charles Fischer's third novel and his longest and most ambitious work to date.
