Overall a good story, and I’m ready for the next one!
I’m an avid Stephen King fan, and I’ve rarely read much else. My wife has been reading some fantasy books, and I thought I’d try something new. This book was recommended to me by a friend, and so I bought and read as an ebook.
Overall, I thought it was a good story with a good ending that has me excited to move to the next book. Some portions of the book were a little harder to get through, but I wonder if that was just me moving to a new author/genre. I thought the development for the main characters was pretty good, and there are a lot of details that I expected to be revealed as important, but didn’t get by the end of this one. Assuming those will be coming in the upcoming books.
I’m giving it 4 stars, because I didn’t finish it with a feeling of “WOW”. We’ll see what the next book brings.
Great book
Held up well from the first time I read this at 14. Had to listen at 1.25x speed. Narration was a little slow for me.
Disappointing
A magician apprentice who performs only one magic spell the whole book and is gone for part of it. Kinda disappointing to be honest
