Publisher Description
Based on a Navy SEAL's inspiring graduation speech, this #1 New York Times bestseller of powerful life lessons "should be read by every leader in America" (Wall Street Journal).
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.
On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves-and the world-for the better.
Admiral McRaven's original speech went viral with over 10 million views. Building on the core tenets laid out in his speech, McRaven now recounts tales from his own life and from those of people he encountered during his military service who dealt with hardship and made tough decisions with determination, compassion, honor, and courage. Told with great humility and optimism, this timeless book provides simple wisdom, practical advice, and words of encouragement that will inspire readers to achieve more, even in life's darkest moments.
"Powerful." --USA Today

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
If you’ve ever wanted to experience Navy SEAL training, but without all the guns and calisthenics, then this little book is for you. Career Navy man Admiral William H. McRaven uses Make Your Bed—based on his commencement speech to the 2014 graduating class of the University of Texas—to turn his military experience into civilian tips for improving your life. The key concept he emphasizes is the importance of using your mistakes to spur better self-discipline. McRaven’s recurring metaphor of making your bed every morning culminates in an anecdote about Saddam Hussein’s captivity that illustrates the concept with startling gravity.

Inspiring is an understatement...a MUST READ!
Every young adult starting a new chapter in their life should read this book. Every leader should reinforce these lessons...a marvelous and inspiring read!
A good book for those entering the workforce
Admiral Mcraven book for life is a great read for those of us who are qualified Special Forces, Rangers or Seals. I can relate to his trials in becoming a SEAL which is no minor accomplishment. I just do not think his stories transition well to those entering the work force or looking for guidance for what to do next. Those who aspire to do great things, I believe, are already internally motivated and no amount of cold, phyiscal demand or sand in one’s life will deter them from thir goals. If this books helps one individual learn the importance of never giving up on one’s goals for life, then the Admiral has hit the mark.
Truly Inspirational
