Presenting a well-structured, well-reasoned argument is an important part of critical thinking and scholarly communication. Making an Argument explores academic argument, focusing on elements and structure as well as providing sample phrases to use when making an argument. Synthesis, or using argument to construct new ideas based on previous works, is also explained.
