Peter Duke explains his approach to making great photographs based on over 40 years of professional experience. This book is not about ƒ-stops and shutter speeds, but rather about the inner discipline required to make great photographs. Duke creates an approach of Technique, Style and Context to frame the making of great photographs.
Illustrated with over 80 photographs and 126 pages of instruction, concepts, suggestions, and philosophy, the book also includes a special look behind all the images and how they were made.
Making Great Photographs
I found this book to be creatively inspirational. It is an approach to
photography that is like writing classical literature as opposed to the
writing copy on the back of a cereal box. Most people see something and
shoot without a lot of thought as to style and context. After reading this
book I feel inspired to do more than that. I hope to implement the
techniques, suggestions and ideas from this book into my photography.
The book ends with a wonderful chapter describing the stories, thought
processes and circumstances that go along with each photograph.
It is obvious that the author of this book is an amazing photographer with
decades of experience. It was also a joy just to see the breadth of work in
Photography for the everyman

Lets the images speak
The author does a great job by letting the photographs speak for themselves. This book delves into the theory behind successful imagery and the process required to tell a story with one photo. The unique large format presentation of photos with accompanying text looks at home on an iPad screen or large tv. Recommended for any aspiring photographers looking to get to the next level.
