Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for History, the definitive biography of Malcolm X.

Hailed as "a masterpiece" (San Francisco Chronicle), the late Manning Marable's acclaimed biography of Malcolm X finally does justice to one of the most influential and controversial figures of twentieth-century American history. Filled with startling new information and shocking revelations, Malcolm X unfolds a sweeping story of race and class in America. Reaching into Malcolm's troubled youth, it traces a path from his parents' activism as followers of Marcus Garvey through his own work with the Nation of Islam and rise in the world of black nationalism, and culminates in the never-before-told true story of his assassination. Malcolm X is a stunning achievement, the definitive work on one of our greatest advocates for social change.

Good read, bad ebook

I'm about about a quarter through the book and I am fascinated by the story of a man often mentioned but perhaps not well understood. I specifically enjoy the author's treatment of the culture and characters comprising Malcolm's world. The quality of this ebook is very poor - glitches abound wherever apostrophes ought to be. Specific trouble where the letter "r" is followed by an apostrophe. I wouldn't have purchased this in ebook form if I'd known these sloppy errors ran rampant through the text.

Great book, shoddy publisher

The book is superb - no complaints there. But the iBooks edition suffers from a sloppy electronic conversion, so the publisher rates 0 stars for their "effort." Come on guys, can't you figure out how to convert apostrophes and dashes into the electronic version?? Considering that this edition costs almost as much as the hardcover, it's unforgivable.
