COLUMN: POP CULTURE NOTEBOOK There was a poetry reading happening on the other side of the country last week that was absolutely cruel to think about: Poet Mindy Nettifee (who recently read for The Dirty Gerund at Ralph's Chadwick Square Diner) and actress-poet Amber Tamblyn (most recently of "House" fame) hosted a night of poetry at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles that featured, to quote The L.A. Times book blog, Jacket Copy, "poets Patricia Smith, a 2008 National Book Award finalist; Whiting Award recipient Ilya Kaminsky; Jeffrey McDaniel, who has been awarded a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship; poetry slam champ Rachel McKibbens (who's also appeared in Worcester recently); and poets and educators Brendan Constantine and Suzanne Lummis." That right there is most of my favorite poets in the country, and I don't make that statement lightly.
