He's a rake beyond redemption…
The Marquess of Milton was the sort of handsome that made women swoon at his feet. Which suited him just fine. Of course, no mother would allow him near her daughter, which worked even better. Who wanted to tangle with a woman he might have to marry? But when his path crosses with Miss Eliza Carrington, a woman who is both strikingly beautiful and as fiery as they come, he knows he has to have her. And when he realizes there is no marriage minded mama to contend with… it's time to be wicked.
She has no time for games…
The Marquess of Menace? That's what they called him? Eliza rejects the name from the first. It implies there is something dangerous about this man when really he's just an overgrown child. One who wanted to play at sin and dance away from the consequences of life. She'll have none of it. And if he thinks his cute lines and his handsome face will have her falling in his bed, he's got another thing coming. She'll teach him a few lessons about playing with a woman's affection that he'll never forget.
But when danger comes knocking at her door, it's Menace who is there to fend it off. And when his arm slips about her in comfort, she has to confess that's it's as strong as it is comforting.
And the reckless beating of her heart. Surely, that's a mistake.

Menace
Dylan Amesbury, Marquess of Milton, is known as the Marquess of Menace. Menace is one of the partners in the Den of Sins gaming hall. The behavior responsible for his nickname is probably in response to the dejection he felt most of his life. His believes his is a failure. After all he has been told so all his life. Eliza Carrington, the eldest of four sisters, has been responsible for the well-being of the family since the death of their mother and disappearance of their shipping magnate father. She is independent, confident, and tough. She wants adventure, not marriage. In order to keep her safe and out of the clutches of the dastardly Mr. Tabor, she and Dylan agree to marry. This does not sound like a match made in Heaven, but stranger things have happened. Will they have a distant marriage of convenience or will they find a happy partnership and love? They may be surprised!
Eliza and Dylan have a wonderful story. There is a mystery surrounding the shipping business running through the series. There are a number of questions: Where is the girls’ father? Who is behind the theft from the shipping company? Who is the Scot seen at the docks with Dishonor? Who is Dishonor, and what happened to him? The suspense is building. I look forward to the next story. A good read. I recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Marquess of Menace is a quick read
Quick , fun read. Would’ve rated it higher, but there are problems with the language that bothered me. The time and place of the story do not allow for American language such as “cookies” for biscuits and “pants” referring to trousers. The author weaves a clever, sweet story. She is quite talented with her ideas, but things that should’ve been a simple edit throw the reader out of the immersion of the story.
Not a stand-alone book....
This wasn’t a bad story. It’s the second of four in this part of a larger series. However, it is not stand-alone book.
If you don’t read the first book you won’t know what is going on in this book and this one leaves just as many questions unanswered. There isn’t an ending. You will have to read the next two books in order for the conclusion.
To me this is annoying and you’re paying four times for one complete story. I don’t know if I will continue the series or not.
