Marriage by Mostake
I so enjoyed this story. It sure brought back memories of my marriage and our children’s births. It was a fun read and made me chuckle a lot.
Marriage by mistake
Adele needs more than a therapist, she’s an idiot. I couldn’t finish.
A Frustrating Read With Little Payoff
This book was honestly a struggle to get through. The female protagonist came off as immature and stubborn, completely unwilling to consider the male protagonist’s perspective on their accidental marriage. She flip-flopped constantly—first saying she couldn’t get a divorce because of her faith, then because she believed Maxim loved her (even though there wasn’t much to suggest this), and finally because she found out she was pregnant. Her reasoning felt more like convenient excuses than genuine character development.
As for Maxim, he wasn’t much better. He showed no real interest in Adele unless it was about sex, and only started caring when he learned she was pregnant. It’s like one character is terrified of commitment, and the other is terrified of not being in one—what kind of dynamic is that supposed to be?
There’s also a strange side plot involving Maxim being a millionaire tech guy and Adele being this ex-hot cheerleader type, but it’s barely explored. The contrast is mentioned a few times but never goes anywhere meaningful.
To be blunt, the writing felt juvenile. There’s barely any real tension or climax, and the plot drags. I ended up skipping chapters because it was just too nonsensical. And don’t get me started on the drugging storyline—how are we supposed to believe they're “truly in love” while under the influence of something that messes with their judgment?
They spent one night together, then three months apart before anything even happened between them. The entire story felt forced and directionless.
To any future reader reading this: I hope this saves you some time. I didn’t check the reviews beforehand (no regrets because it was free), but if you're on the fence—don’t bother.
