Adam Blackmore is the Marquess of Gillingham. He is a member of the Everly Club. He needs a wife and a heir. He knows he would need to keep a mistress because of his preferences in the bedroom. He frequents the Green Rooms at the Everly Club which satisfies his unique play in the bedroom.
Elizabeth Harcourt, Lizzie, is the daughter of Adam’s good friend. He has not seen her in years. Lizzie and her good friend Caroline have a plan to marry rakes. This way they will be left alone to pursue their interests. Adam finds out about their plan and cannot believe they are playing at trapping a rake. It had only taken Adam a moment of distraction to get Lizzie alone and vulnerable. Did she not know a rake would abandon and ruin her?
He want’s Lizzie to stop this ridiculous game of trapping a rake. Adam decides that since he was able to get her alone like a rake would, he has compromised her. So now he will be the one to marry her. Will she agree to the marriage? Will he have to compromise her for real so she will agree to the marriage?
This is book three in The Everly Club series. The story flowed and kept me interested. I did not care much for the dialogue and action in the green room but the overall love story of Adam and Lizzie kept me turning the pages. Adam and Lizzie have steamy chemistry that burns with their desires for each other. Overall the book was very good. I look forward to the next book in this series. I hope it is about Duke of Everly. The series does not need to be read in order but you appreciate all the characters more. It is great to see past characters interacting with the main characters in the current book. The Not-So-Dull Marquess
After thwarting her plan to trap a rake, Adam Blackmore, Marquess of Gillingham, informs Elizabeth Harcourt that henceforth he will be her only suitor. Lizzie is not thrilled that her father’s friend plans to marry her. Adam isn’t sure how she will feel about his membership in the Everly Club, and the activity he enjoys there. Lizzie and her friends, however, are quite curious about the Club. This is a quick steamy read with a twist and turn or two. There is some kinky activity in the Green Rooms at the club, but it’s handled well. There is nothing hard core or brutal between Adam and Lizzie. A couple of worries pop up for Adam and Lizzie to work out. Lizzie’s solution is shocking and fun. The end is fun, and it bodes well for a wonderful HEA.
