Mars Jeems's Nightmare

Essayist, folklorist, short-story writer, Charles Chesnutt was a remarkable author who presented African-American life in his works.

Together with other Chesnutt’s stories, “Mars Jeems's Nightmare” touches on the racial themes. In it Chesnutt scrutinizes the sociological and psychological effects of Jim Crow laws and practices on white, black, and mixed-race communities.
