Mastermind

San Antonio, River Walk, Hill Country, the Alamo and murders so diabolical only a mastermind could get away with them. Single professional females are found murdered in every area of the city, each with a different method. As new Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. DELANEY, has her hands full as she faces challenges from all directions. To make matters worse, a serial killer is operating in the area and this killer is very intelligent. He kills each victim in a different manner effectively eluding the police. A break in the case comes when VESSY recovers hair in the hands of two of the victims that are from the same person, revealing that the killings are actually related. DNA evidence from the hair and information from the psychological profiler determine the killer is a white male, older than most, 40 to 50 years old and is likely in a dysfunctional relationship. DELANEY and the lead detective on the case, Lt. KABALA, form a working alliance and together they uncover two suspects, neither of which is male. As they work closely together on solving the case, a subtle romantic attraction develops between them, even though she has sworn off dating cops. KABALA is suddenly implicated as a possible suspect when two of his former lovers are found to be victims. He is pulled off the case and DELANEY has her hands full when the press suggests a cover up and tampering of evidence. The killer waits at DELANEY's house and as her mom is being held hostage she must fight for her own life. The novel combines technical skill with real life plots.
