Noir yes; shot in the dark
It's old stuff, so it has historic value. Don't let the authors influence you. It's not their normal writing, it's their early writing. The stories are all dime novel formula, so there's style value, but the read ain't all that good, buddy. This is all "ya got me, copper" stuff.
