Publisher Description
The instant #1 New York Times bestseller!
A Human hybrid and an Alpha Were claw against the bonds of fate in the highly anticipated companion novel to the New York Times bestselling Bride.
Serena Paris is orphaned, pack-less, and one of a kind. Coming forward as the first Human-Were hybrid was supposed to heal a centuries-long rift between species. Instead, it made her a target, prey to the ruthless political machinations between Weres, Vampyres, and Humans. With her enemies closing in on her, she has only one option left—if he’ll have her.
As Alpha of the Northwest pack, Koen Alexander commands obedience. His authority is so absolute, only a fool would threaten his mate. It doesn’t matter if Serena doesn’t reciprocate his feelings, nothing will stop him from keeping her safe.
But power-hungry Vampyres and Weres are not the only threats chasing Serena. Sooner or later, her past is bound to catch up with her—and Koen might be the only thing standing between her and total annihilation…
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
If you’re craving a yearning, banter-filled paranormal romance, it should come as no surprise that author Ali Hazelwood has you covered. In this spinoff from her bestseller Bride, Serena is a rare werewolf-human hybrid who’s been left vulnerably alone without a pack. Between threats from humans, Vampyres, and Weres, her only option is to agree—very reluctantly—to become the mate of the alpha Koen, whose position will at least guarantee her safety. Witty and smart, Serena is a fantastic main character. We were truly engaged by her journey to understand her strange new physiology and the dark political intrigues of this supernatural world. And yes, we were absolutely consumed by the slow-burn romantic tension between these two. Koen is serious, protective, and expects total submission. Serena is tough, sarcastic, and doesn’t take orders. If you get a warm feeling just imagining how the defenses might crumble between these opposites, don’t pass up Mate. (Plus, you don’t have to read Bride first to get started.)
Customer Reviews
Oh…my…god
Ali, you deranged human. Genius. This book far exceeded my expectations and they were already so high. Every book she writes is better than the last. This book made me laugh and cry and the love story is just so sweet! And hot.
Unreadable
Hazelton tries way too hard with (and relies too heavily on) the banter between Serena and Koen and it just reads as sophomoric instead of witty. I loved Bride so I was extra disappointed.
Fresh & Witty
Throughly enjoyed. Couldn’t put it down!
