Matt Helm, one-time special agent for the American government during the Second World War, has left behind his violent past to raise a family in Santa Fe, New Mexico. When a former colleague turns rogue and kidnaps his daughter, Helm is forced to return to his former life as a deadly and relentless assassin.
Originally released in the era of the James Bond novels, these novels have been out of print and unavailable for almost 20 years. They were considered grittier and more realistic than Bond, garnering them critical praise and an ardent audience.

Excellent Read.
I picked this title out due to my fondness of the Dean Martin " Matt Helm movies.
I was quite (pleasantly) surprised that the novels differed from the movie versions in humor style and subject matter.
I still like the movies. (But I can see why Dean Martin went for the spoof of the Bond character more than the gritty feel of the novels Matt Helm.
This is a worthy companion series that can stand alongside Ian Fleming's Bond Novels.
(If you've never read those and you like this novel I envy you, for you are in for a Real Treat!)
Death of a Citizen
A fan of this series from childhood, I was thrilled to find them again via my iPad...Eric would eat Bond for lunch. Eat your heart out, M!
Great series
This is the first book in the series about Matt Helm, a tough as nails assassin who works for a shadowy US agency. Great to see them being reissued. But why are IBooks usually more expensive than Kindle?
