Publisher Description

In the tradition of The Fault in Our Stars, critically acclaimed author Melissa Kantor masterfully captures the joy of friendship, the agony of loss, and the unique experience of being a teenager in this poignant new novel about a girl grappling with her best friend's life-threatening illness.

A person's whole life, she's lucky to have one or two real friends. Friends who are like family… For Zoe, that someone is Olivia. So when Olivia is diagnosed with leukemia, Zoe is determined to put on a brave face and be positive for her best friend.

Even when she isn't sure what to say. Even when Olivia misses months of school. Even when Zoe starts falling for Calvin, Olivia's crush.

The one thing that keeps Zoe moving forward is knowing that Olivia will beat this, and everything will go back to the way it was before. It has to. Because the alternative is too terrifying for her to even imagine.

Fantastic

This novel was a pleasant surprise. It was one of those books that I had on my wish list because I ran across it on iBooks but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to buy it, so I checked it out from the library. Needless to say, it neither took long to finish nor go out and buy it.

“Maybe One Day” was poignant and incredibly well written. So much so that I found myself on the verge of tears toward the end. I thought Zoe and Olivia were very realistic and relatable. Sometimes authors fail to create realistic characters and situations, but Kantor successfully captured a deep, meaningful friendship, developed two girls whose thoughts and actions were completely plausible and non-canonical with these types of storylines, and created an ending that was both perfect and imperfect.

A definite recommendation.

Great Book

This was definitely a tear jerker. I couldn't quite relate to it but my name is Zoe and I used to have a best friend named Olivia no she isn't dead or dying we just sort of grew apart but I talk to her every once in a while. But anyways I don't usually cry like at all when I read stories but this story towards the end just killed me. I broke down in tears. Even though I knew a certain thing was coming (because I had accidentally skipped ahead) when I got to the actual part and read it my heart just broke. This book is a definite great read and you definitely won't be wasting your time.

Best Book Yet!

Normally I don't cry in books but I found myself being brought to tears many times. It's was amazing and once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I was so hesitant to start reading it but I am glad I did because it tells one of the most touching stories ever.
