Marcus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor. He was a philosopher, representative of late stoicism. 

This "philosophical diary", which the Emperor wrote in the stowed tent, tormented by a severe illness, was discovered only after his death. The book is also known as "Alone with you": According to the physician Marcus Aurelius, the emperor's last words were: "I think I'm already staying alone with yourself," after which he moved his lips in an exhausted smile. The ethical teachings of the royal philosopher - one of the best monuments of moralistic literature unfading crown jewel of world culture.
