Read the book that inspired the BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE starring Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, and Cliff Curtis!
Seven years ago, and seven miles below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, Dr. Jonas Taylor encountered something that changed the course of his life. Once a Navy deep-sea submersible pilot, now a marine paleontologist, Taylor is convinced that a remnant population of Carcharodon megalodon — prehistoric sharks growing up to 70 feet long, that subsisted on whales — lurks at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. When offered the opportunity to return to those crushing depths in search of the Megs, Taylor leaps at the chance… but the quest for scientific knowledge (and personal vindication) becomes a desperate fight for survival, when the most vicious predator that the earth has ever known is freed to once-again hunt the surface.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Tough-guy scientist Jonas Taylor faces 70 feet of carnage in Steve Alten’s fast-paced undersea thriller. On an expedition to the ocean floor, Taylor finds monstrous sharks that time forgot; when one of them escapes to the surface, he must try to stop the feeding frenzy. Alten deftly weaves vivid scientific details into his story of nonstop suspense—the first chapter of the action-packed Meg series. We stayed put, turning pages until the bloody climax.

A great read
Surprisingly, I saw this featured at Walmart almost a decade ago and read it while. I was still in junior high. I was expecting a coffee, but boy I was surprised and hooked by the story and I wanted more! The movie BUTCHERED the novel, so don’t let that fool you, the source material is fantastic!
Had to be about 14 or 15 yrs ago and I'm still Hooked!
I came across Meg by sheer chance at my schools library. I also found Raptor Red that day (also, a great read)I'm a shark fanatic so finding some NEW Fiction on the subject got me pretty stoked.
It was a school night but I didn't care I plopped down with Meg in hand and when morning came I was just finishing it, but I wanted more megalodons!! The Trench then came, and filled the void.... Temporarily. Thankfully he's continued the Meg story a few more times, and hopefully we WILL see it up on the Big Screen
Because srsly, Deep Blue Sea just did not cut it.
I was expecting a rip-off of Jaws, or just another crap novel like I usually find at 10 pm. So for a couple bucks I got it on iBook. I'd gone in not expecting much, but to my surprise I never put it down. In one sitting I finished the novel, feeling satisfied. So take my word for it, steal yourself away for this one.
