It is considered to be one of the most exciting things to do for a 3rd years MEM student. It is both an exciting and stressful time and could cause some insecurity. 


Every company is looking for the non-existing perfect employee and you might already be struggling to name only 3 good qualities of yourself. Companies might be asking for flexibility in your schedule a bit too much, especially on the days when you feel like you need your sleep the most. Another condition you will find in most vacancies would be: a passion for the job. Of course, you will need this, it is about motivation. Motivation to run a good internship and to meet all expectations, especially to get your degree and finish your study. 


Last week I was shown a vacancy which stated that students shouldn’t be afraid to make coffee and do some cleaning. To this I replied with a response that our students are not supposed to be doing these kinds of tasks and that students should be able to make demands on what they can do and what they would like to learn during their internship. During the second year of the studies you learned about applying for jobs during the workshops that have been given. The same questions should have been answered there and also during the Self-management workshops in the third year with your study coach. 


Choices have to be made! The choice of your internship is crucial for the rest of your career! Make sure to do research with you study coach and try to answer the questions: What do I want? What am I capable of doing? And What do I want to learn? It is about time to get to work!
