Interesting
The author’s account is nicely written, though not as detailed as I had wished. His battle descriptions are of course based only on his own observations; I had hoped they would comprise more than repeated praise of Stuart and the superior fighting skills of the ANV. He described the Confederate cause as “just”, apparently overlooking what it was dedicated to. Still, it’s worth reading for its depiction of Southern life.
