Publisher Description

Here we are again my friends. We find ourselves in a short-story this time, but one that follows the same doctrine: "There is a moment in everyone’s life, where a slight change in decision would have had a very dramatic change in the timeline of their life. It is the fork in the road you cannot return to." This short-story focuses on the “you cannot return to” portion.

We have all been Lost Souls at one point in our lives, where we have had very dark thoughts; but many of our lives are fortunate to have people whom remind us that there is so much more to live for, that there is a bright side to everything, and that there is hope. However, not all Lost Souls are fortunate, as they stay lost forever.

The Lost Soul in this short-story is Guy Lebeau. Throughout his life, Guy has always suffered the worst-case scenario; but when the worst-case scenarios that have plagued his entire life finally catch up to him, Guy is faced with the most difficult decision of his life. Is he willing to leave his family behind? Will he succumb to the urge to end it all? Or will he fight for his survival?

Enjoy my second endeavour onto the iBook Store with this short-story. Your feedback and/or review is welcome.

Excellent Character Development...

This story is well worth a read. I thoroughly enjoyed the way Mota brought Guy Lebeau to life in the story, and I found myself rooting for him at the end. I felt like a football fan, with my team down by four points driving for a touchdown in the last seconds of the game, adding my "will" to Guy's effort. Many writers have great scenery, or great use of language, or excel at linear stream-of-consciousness, but it is indeed a talent to marry those qualities to create a living, breathing, struggling character.

My only reason for not giving five stars is I felt the relationship between Guy and Jamie needed more fleshing out; it needed more explanation for me to buy in or believe in their bond. If Apple would allow, I'd give it four-and-a-half stars because that is not a flaw as much as it is something that needs further exploring and further detail. Maybe the author will see my review and write another piece that focuses on the "in-between" for Guy and Jamie.

Either way, characters have a life of their own. As they say, "There will be water if God wills it," I have every hope that Mota will build on this storyline. In the meantime, enjoy an hour reading an episode in the life of a believable character.
