Lovely language and the overall discourse on the consequences of thoughtlessness make this a significant final work from a master.

Disappointing
I read a review calling this a masterpiece and have enjoyed Westlake before but this 300+ page book should have been a 100 page novella. No interesting characters and an overdone main theme, i.e., memory loss, so probably should be 2 stars and not 3. Very repetitive and a big disappointment as this is his last book I understand before passing away....EAF
