Mentor

A common understanding in the first-century world was that "the disciple walks in the dust of the master." That phrase best summarizes what this study seeks to show: Discipleship is non-negotiable in the Scriptures. The Bible offers numerous examples of masters in whose dust their students walked. Jesus and his disciples are, of course, the primary example. The best way to learn how to walk with God is to walk in the dust of a master who himself walks with God. The master cannot walk so far ahead, and the disciple so far behind, that the master's dust cannot fall on the student. Mentoring takes place as two or more people walk together.
